Are we the only ones who thought inauguration day 2021 had a specific dress code? We imagine the invitation might have read ‘monochromatic’. Since last Wednesday the conversation on the internets has been around the statement looks served by the ladies, from what they were communicating in their color choices to how fire each look was.

If you remember, in our December blog post about adding color to your closet we told you how Monochromatic is the ultimate show of confidence. So what better way to bring back this conversation than inspired by these powerfully confident women.

The good news is you only need three steps to achieving a stylish monochromatic look.

Color

Although a monochromatic look can be achieved with any color, start with your favorite color or derive inspiration from nature. She is really very good at giving direction on what is the season’s hottest color.

Tone

Once you have settled on a color, decide on the tones of that color to combine. As a beginner, the key is the tones have to only vary slightly in shade one from the other. Once you get comfortable with rocking monochromatic looks, you can then play around with more variations.

Fabrication

In our books, this is the secret sauce to a fire look. Although there is nothing wrong with each item being of the same fabric, there is just something about combining different fabrications. Not only does it add a style flare, but it is also just more pleasing to the eye.

And just like that, you are a pro! Of course, if you need a few more style tips to stay on top of your style game we have Virtual Style services available to you no matter where you are.
