Street Style is the Best Fashion Inspo and Here's Why
As the fashion month of September is in full swing with a number of runway shows and fashion events, we wanted to highlight Street Style as a key trend. While designer runway shows point us in the direction of fashion trends for the upcoming seasons, we highly suggest you also open your eyes to what’s happening off the runway and in the streets where more attainable style cues are set. It’s important to note that as much as the runways tell us about trends, street style does too.

Street style brings unique fashion to mainstream fashion where everyone can embrace their individuality and recreate their version of not only current but future trends. In the 1990s, the street style began to gain popularity with the hip hop and skateboarding era, reaching its peak during the social media boom. Street style is all about mixing one-of-a-kind, unique or bold pieces with everyday essentials and basics, think graphic tees, hoodies, blazers, and sweatpants.
While aspiration is the main driver of runway fashion popularity - let’s be honest not everyone can afford high-end designer pieces, accessibility is a key aspect of street style. You can see a look and recreate it with gently used vintage pieces or you can use items you already own. Since street style is relaxed and unique, it's easy to make adjustments while keeping the essence of the look.
Key elements of street style
Comfort
Think casual like sweats and joggers with the key element being able to move in them. You're almost there, now elevate the look with a pair of unique shoes and a purse.

Androgynous style
Street style is often inspired by "traditional" masculine items, such as oversized jackets, sweaters, formal shirts, tailored baggy pants, and layering styles. Overall baggy looks are the go-to with very little form fit.

Self Expression
Street style is considered casual, comfortable, and unique but is overall still about a thoughtful style that celebrates individuality while expressing personal interests and tastes. This is achieved by including relevant pieces in the looks that nod to personal taste such as logos, social causes, artist work, and previous, current, or future fashion trends.

How to dominate street style.
As you prepare to go out and create that flawless look, remember street style is about using what you have or what is easily available.
Highlight Your Taste
One of the most enjoyable things about street style is being able to add flair to each outfit. Whether it is your favorite music, color, movie, or prints. Street style is an opportunity to incorporate these personal tastes and preferences through your look.
2. Experiment With Your Look
Layer pieces, and create new ways to wear traditional pieces. Dare to wear something different from how it's created: a coat as a dress, cinched with a belt. The street style works well for incorporating multiple layers, bulky and baggy is not a bad thing here.
3. Seek Inspiration Everywhere and Anywhere
It's a style with millions of possibilities, and there are new looks you can try every day by seeking inspiration from social media, the looks of people on your city streets, movies, or shows. There’s bound to be something you can duplicate with what you already own with your flair
4. Have Fun
Ultimately, everything should make you feel confident and give you joy. Try new things in the mirror and if it doesn’t look or feel right, take them off and try something new.
Whether you are looking for classic styling or a modern twist, be yourself. Street Style is all about a sense of uniqueness, so don't be afraid to break the mold, try out unexpected combinations, and of course, if you need help we are here.
