Park Picnic
Where: Tulip festival at Commissioners Park, Ottawa
Nothing gives you comfort quite like a soft fabric dress with sneakers. This is one of my favourite looks and you can wear it to the Tulip festival currently underway in Ottawa.
Apparently, Ottawa hosts the World’s Largest Tulip festival, can you imagine picnicking around beautiful flowers in the sun? Bliss!
This dress is by Moovment Design, a Quebec-based fashion brand that makes clothing locally and is eco-responsible. Their goal is to help you find the garment that fits you perfectly and makes you feel good. The brand creates clothing from ecological fabrics (organic cotton, bamboo etc.) and integrates a “zero waste” concept into their creations by using leftover fabrics to make accessories and clothing for dogs.

Star Gazing
Where: Northern Lights - Muncho Lake Provincial Park, BC
Rent a pickup truck, pack a blanket, food, and snacks and turn romance up to 1000%.
When it comes to date night, outfits are almost always dressed up. Keeping with this theme, style a blouse with trousers. For shoes, it’s best to wear with a flat or loafer.
This blouse is by MAS Montreal, a Montreal-based fashion brand whose mission stems from the founder’s need to find clothing that fits “atypical” bodies. They deconstruct beauty standards by reclaiming a healthier body image by offering easy-to-wear pieces that make you feel good both emotionally and physically. Plus, everything is locally made with eco-friendly materials and minimal packaging - conscious of reducing waste.
Don’t forget to bring a lightweight coverup for when it gets chilly like this kimono duster from The Allen Avenue which is light enough to fold and carry.

Another option is to wear a skirt with a complimentary tank/blouse.
This particular look is actually layered over a dress from Marshalls and the skirt is by Marigold Montreal.
Marigold Montreal designs and makes environmentally-respectful clothing locally in Quebec. The brand is transparent about its manufacturing and pricing, and since 2019 donates $1 from each item sold to a non-profit organization, Le Book Humanitaire.

Desserts and Cobblestone Walks
where: Old Quebec - North America’s oldest streets
Take a guided walking tour of the oldest streets in Quebec City!
For a casual yet dressy look, pair shorts with a block heel or wedges for comfort. Skipping wearing sneakers, as tempting as it might be, will elevate the shorts outfit while keeping it appropriate with a quick bite from one of the many restaurants you will find in the city.
Top off the look with a bold coloured top like this purple top from Advika Clothing, an eco-friendly clothing brand based in Montreal.
The brand prides itself on making comfortable clothing that is responsibly made using locally sourced and sustainable materials. Each design is inspired by the movements of yoga and dance - how interesting!

Bike Riding
Where: Banff, ALberta
After being cooped up indoors for so long, take in the crisp air or beautiful mountainous in Banff by bike.
If you’re bike riding around Banff (or anywhere for that matter), you need to be comfortable, but that doesn’t mean you also can’t look cute.
Personally, shorts and bike riding don’t work for me because the shorts ride up and get uncomfortable. Also, chaffing is a real thing. So opting for a light cotton jogger in a cool print like these from Marshalls paired with a tank to prevent overheating is a good choice.
Assuming you will be having so much fun and bike into the evening, there is no harm in taking a layering piece like a denim jacket. Carrying a bag might be awkward so this fanny bag/belt bag that comes with its own belt from Marshalls is small enough for your phone, ID, lip balm, etc. without adding weight to your look.

Dinner with a view
Where: CN Tower, Toronto, Ontario
As much as 2022 is the year of trying something new, there is no harm in a good ol’ dinner date. Take it to the next level by trying a restaurant with a gorgeous view.
Slip dresses have been a big feature in fashion in the last bit. Stand out in a unique colour like this mint dress from Marshalls that comes in multiple colours.
Details are what will bring this look to the next level.
Anemone Bags, a Canadian brand are experts in unique bags like this shell-inspired beauty. Each stage of the production process of these handbags is done by Simon Trudeau, the designer and visual artist behind the brand. Simon’s work blends the borders between art and function. He wants his “bags to look like huge jewels or empty sculptures that you can fill and carry with you”.
