Style in a time of work-from-home, my TV segment on building a professional yet comfortable capsule closet
Every time we speak to one of our clients we hear about the lack of excitement in their everyday wardrobe now that they are working from home.
Working from home has even the most style-conscious of us wanting to keep things simple, stay cozy - especially with the weather change, and comfortable without the fuss of putting an outfit together. TBH, I am in the same boat and preaching to myself here too.
I keep encouraging everyone to push themselves to still ‘dress’ for their home office - whatever that looks like for them. It is actually scientifically proven that looking put together can boost your mood and who doesn’t need a mood booster in the age of covid right?
I took this dress to work from home to national TV when I sat down with Your Morning to chat about an easy way to build your work-from-home capsule closet. In my opinion, this is the perfect balance between comfort and fuss-free yet playing with statement pieces that are still on-trend. With the help of our brand partners, here are the looks that featured on the show and of course essential for your capsule closet.
Comfort
Ditch the oversize hoodies and opt for comfortable and well-fitting knits. Easy care and machine washable is the easiest way to keep it fuss-free. A key item I would recommend is the cardigan and additional pieces like turtle knecks in neutral colors to easily pair to T-shirts.

Dress up days
For days when you need to elevate your look whether, for meetings or video presentations, you want to invest in a statement blazer that can easily pair down to anything. Animal prints and geometrics are a huge player for fall 2020. For a blazer consider a traditional windowpane for a timeless option or a well fitted double-breasted in blue or military green. Throw it over a t-shirt for a fuss-free look or a slightly dressier top to elevate the look. And if you are going for an animal print in your top, choose a more subtle pattern that looks less busy on camera.

The ultimate style uniform, Black is the new black.
If you love having a style uniform then you will be glad to hear about this fall 2020 trend of black from head to toe. I know you already have black in your closet, so time to bring it right out. For a little personality, play around with combining fabrics, knits, and wovens, or even leathers.

A DSM Style Tip you will love, the WFH Style Hack
We all love a practical style hack right? Right! Have a blazer and accessories at your desk (or dining room table) for easy access. If you want to step it up a notch, a statement piece like a pocket square or necklace is the icing on the cake, lipstick is optional but it doesn’t hurt to keep a tube at your desk for days when you feel like it.
